Russia’s Presidency in SCO and BRICS: New business opportunities

In 2015, in light of Russia's Presidency in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS, special attention will be allocated to developing relations with partners from these countries, Head of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Sergei Katyrin told at a news conference at the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency.

"First, we would like to organise commendably all meetings scheduled to take place in the framework of Russia's Presidency in the SCO and BRICS and, second, to give an extra impetus to the development of business with the help of those events," Mr. Katyrin said.

He confirmed plans to hold a joint SCO-BRICS Business Forum on the sidelines of the St.Petersburg International Economic Forum in summer 2015, to which business representatives from all regional countries, including those granted observer status in the SCO, will be invited. "Our main task is to organise business contacts and contacts focused on possible joint projects," the RCCI Head said.

Another important event of Russia's Presidency in the SCO and BRICS will be a planned meeting of the heads of leading exhibition companies to discuss prospects in this branch, the first such meeting in the history of both the SCO and BRICS. The case in point, according to Mr. Katyrin, is to establish a regulatory body that would coordinate work in this field on the territory of all these countries.
