SCO Youth Council to meet in Ufa

The 8th SCO Youth Council Meeting will take place in Ufa, the Republic of Bashkortostan, in July 2015, as a part of Russia's SCO Presidency. The event will be attended by representatives from Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

In addition to Russia's responsibility to organise the SCO Youth Council, the event will be co-sponsored by the Russian Public Chamber, the Russian Youth Union, and the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh).

The initiative to create the Youth Council was put forward at the SCO Summit in Shanghai (PRC) in June 2006 by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Council's co-founders are national youth organisations from the SCO member states: the Youth Congress of Kazakhstan, the Zhas Otan Youth Wing of the Nur Otan People's Democratic Party (Kazakhstan), the All-China Youth Federation, the Youth Public Council of Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Youth Union, a national public organisation, the Youth Public Chamber of Russia and the Youth Union of Tajikistan.
